Magic Kingdom

THE WALT DISNEY WORLD RAILROAD

Thank goodness for Walt Disney’s love of steam trains. Without it there wouldn’t be a Walt Disney World Railroad circling Magic Kingdom park. Four genuine steam trains built between 1916 and 1928 make up the Walt Disney World line. They are the Lilly Belle, named after Walt Disney’s wife. The Walter E. Disney named after Walt Disney himself. The Roy O. Disney named for Walt’s brother and partner, and the Roger E. Broggie named for the Disney Legend who made so many of Walt Disney’s ideas possible.

During the construction of Magic Kingdom park, all four steam trains were salvaged from the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico and shipped to Tampa for a full restoration. Then it was off to Walt Disney World Resort to fulfill their locomotive destinies on the happiest tracks on earth!
