FISH TACOS AT FAT KAHUNAS IN COCOA BEACH

After our Bahamian cruise on the Disney Dream Michael and I planned a visit to Cocoa Beach. Only a nine mile drive from Port Canaveral is this charming little beach town. Built around an inviting stretch of white sand and blue ocean, the shops and sidewalks reminded me of childhood summers spent at Lauderdale-By-The-Sea. Our real destination was Fat Kahunas, a small restaurant with a big reputation located just a few steps from the beach. The proprietors had lived in Hawaii for many years and returned to Florida with all of their delicious recipes in tow to create this memorable island-inspired eatery.

We started our meal with the Coconut Shrimp. This appetizer was tremendous – the best you’ll find anywhere.  The Pineapple Spritzers were also refreshing and delicious.

Michael and I both ordered the Blackened Mahi Mahi Soft Tacos – served with Coconut Rice and Black Beans, Salsa and a fresh slice of Pineapple. We inhaled this dish. The combination of flavours were perfect. The fish was outstanding and the pineapple slice was a surprisingly perfect complement to the entire meal. Incredibly fresh and delicious with all ingredients made in-house. Fat Kahunas is a must-try!
